Dear Readers,

I had the cutest surprise in my garden over the weekend.

I was digging up plants Saturday and ready to call it quits, when I noticed I had forgotten to put a plant back into the ground. I was straining to see if it was in the ground or not, when I noticed a tiny brown bottom with two tiny splayed feet and tiny tail under my small Juniper tree.

Quietly, I went to investigate.

I snuck up and saw a tiny baby bunny laying on his belly under my miniature tree. It was as still as could be. I stood entranced, just a grinning fool. It was like the real Secret Garden.

That evening, I went out with my camera to take a garden photo and thought I'd see if my little visitor was still there.

Yes, he was there, but when I went to focus the camera on him, there were too many ears. So, I looked again and saw there were two bunnies!

I looked through the view finder again and I thought there were too many brown fuzzy bottoms for two bunnies. So I snuck in closer and began to count.

I counted 5 bunnies piled under the tree!

I quietly peeked around the tree and found Mr. Loner B. Bunny sprawled out by himself on the other side. That made 6 babies under my tree.

I took a bunch of photos. They hardly moved until a bug buzzed around my neck and I had to smack it.

While gardening yesterday, I thought my bunny family had left  until I began watering. As water hit the foliage three of the little bunnies shot out and ran for alternate cover.

Later, I found one to photograph. Poor thing, his only goal was to find somewhere to hide from the big giant.

Finally he found a huge Hollyhock leaf and stayed still, partially hidden under it, sure that I had lost sight of him.

I could still see him, but click as I may, all the photos turned out the same, and he knew it.

He won that battle but I think we'll be meeting again!

A Bunny! In my garden! Just the right size for my tiny tree!

Hmm, there's too many ears for one bunny!

Yes, that's definitely a little nose up there.

Too much fuzz for two baby bunnies!

I wonder if there's any more?

Goodness, here's number 6 hiding behind this little bear bench. Can you see his open eye hidden in the left upper corner?

Can you count 5 bunnies hiding here together?

They did hop a little when I slapped that bug on my neck....Now I can see the color of their ear backs.

The next day, I found my friend again, this time over by the daisies.

"Oh no!" he says, " Did the giant see me again?"

"I gotta hide lickity split!"

"No, too dark in there. I'm gunna' find somewhere else."

"I'm thinking, I'm thinking...."

"I've got it!"

"Okay, this looks good."

Perhaps Mary will document the bunnies as they grow up to big rabbits in her Secret Garden.

"Yep, I'm just going to stay right here and not move a muscle. She'll be bored out of her mind in no time!"    And it worked! I left the poor dear alone. Now he and his 5 siblings are in the Garden now nibbling up my flowers and having a good little laugh.
