Dear Readers,
I had the cutest surprise in my garden over the weekend.
I was digging up plants Saturday and ready to call it quits, when I noticed I had forgotten to put a plant back into the ground. I was straining to see if it was in the ground or not, when I noticed a tiny brown bottom with two tiny splayed feet and tiny tail under my small Juniper tree.
Quietly, I went to investigate.
I snuck up and saw a tiny baby bunny laying on his belly under my miniature tree. It was as still as could be. I stood entranced, just a grinning fool. It was like the real Secret Garden.
That evening, I went out with my camera to take a garden photo and thought I'd see if my little visitor was still there.
Yes, he was there, but when I went to focus the camera on him, there were too many ears. So, I looked again and saw there were two bunnies!
I looked through the view finder again and I thought there were too many brown fuzzy bottoms for two bunnies. So I snuck in closer and began to count.
I counted 5 bunnies piled under the tree!
I quietly peeked around the tree and found Mr. Loner B. Bunny sprawled out by himself on the other side. That made 6 babies under my tree.
I took a bunch of photos. They hardly moved until a bug buzzed around my neck and I had to smack it.
While gardening yesterday, I thought my bunny family had left until I began watering. As water hit the foliage three of the little bunnies shot out and ran for alternate cover.
Later, I found one to photograph. Poor thing, his only goal was to find somewhere to hide from the big giant.
Finally he found a huge Hollyhock leaf and stayed still, partially hidden under it, sure that I had lost sight of him.
I could still see him, but click as I may, all the photos turned out the same, and he knew it.
He won that battle but I think we'll be meeting again!

A Bunny! In my garden! Just the right size for my tiny tree!

Hmm, there's too many ears for one bunny!

Yes, that's definitely a little nose up there.
Too much fuzz for two baby bunnies!
