Award for Creativity

Presented by Sue Blakey of the Dancing Bear Folk Center

Dancing Bear Folk Center

Sue Blakey of the Dancing Bear Folk Center in Thermopolis, Wyoming, southeast of Yellowstone National Park, was so impressed with the URSA Award entries that she decided to honor one of the artists with an additional award, The Dancing Bear Award for Creativity. From the final URSA entries (60), Sue looked for the following:

1) consistent overall quality

2) creative contribution to the field by an established artist

3) quality workmanship

4) creativity outside-the-box.

After all was considered, a final question was posed, "If I could buy only one bear for the museum, which would it be?"

With so many wonderful entries, the decision was difficult. But when the smoke cleared, one artists and her entry were left.

Congratulations to Mary Wimberley of Mary's Secret Garden for her character, Reginald "Topper" Rabbit. Reginald is one lucky rabbit. He won the first place URSA Award for the Over 15" Dressed (Bud) and was so impressive and distinctive that he captured the Dancing Bear Award for Creativity. Way to go, Reginald! It looks like his lucky rabbit's feet did the trick!

Thanks again to Sue Blakey for her generosity of spirit and love for teddy bears and buds. Professional Members, check the B2B site for an upcoming article from Sue, who has been
