Glimpses from TEDDYBÄR WELT 2005
by Berta Hesen-Minten
of ThReAdTeDs
Recently, I exhibited at TEDDYBÄR WELT 2005, one of the biggest shows
in Germany, which was held Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13, 2005
at Rhein-Main Hallen Wiesbaden, Germany.
Like many two day shows, the second day was more quiet, so I took
my camera and walked over the show, shooting photos of the bears which caught my attention.
Won Moung-Hee, President of the Korea Teddybear Association, had
a booth that attracted my attention because of the bears’ outfits.

When I came nearer for a closer inspection, I saw that Won Moung-Hee
was actually part of a larger group of artists from Korea whose styles
were all very different than most of the other bears normally displayed
at the show.

Ahn Byung-Hwa, General Manager, Korea Teddybear Association, Korea,
was located next to Won Moung-Hee, which was a fun contrast, since
Won Moung-Hee’s bears were very big and Ahn Byung-Hwa featured miniature polar bears. She built a complete artic scene on top of her
booth which looked really "cool".

Korean artist, Ma Eun Sook, Minabears, showcased truly stunning, finely detailed
fairy bears, embellished with absolutely beautiful needlecraft. Ma Eun Sook won
Third Prize in the Ted Worldwide public choice.

Brigitta Hausdorf’s Britt Bears always seems to catch my attention
because they are just sweet as can be!
She weaves such special
charm into her little ones.

Heidi Schaefer of Puppen und Bären displayed the unusual, ornate
and equisitely costumed "Statue of the Virgin Mary". Heidi told me
she was not sure if it would offend people but it was in her mind
for so long, she just had to make it.”

Ines Kretzschmar, Bärenkinder, displayed her wonderful bear children
and precious tots they were (pictured at top of page)!
It is always nice to discover bears made from other mediums than just
fur so I was very happy when I happened upon the the funny Keramik
Bears by B. Jo Hillenbrand.

At last, I spotted the bears from Karin Peire,
Keuns & Bears,
from Belgium. it is so much fun to see how Karin’s bears can
instantly turn people’s faces into big smiles when they catch
a glimpse of those amusing little miracles of joy.
Karin explained she created the most amusing Pot Pickles
"to catch peoples' attention". They certainly achieved their
goal!
