a pattern.  She is 16 inches long and was born from soft white

chenille thread.  Features stitched in black, glass eyes in soft

brown shade with black pupils, body stuffed with white polyfil,

Limbs are sewn on loosely to allow easy posing.  Disc and

cotterpin attached head to move loosely for a natural look.

flower buds, are made from the same thread and have matching

green/blue edge.

Fairy, the Ballerina

7" tall Fairy loves ballet.  Dreaming of being a ballerina

since she was a cub, she is hoping to get a part in the

chorus of Swan Lake some day.  Her tiny head and skinny

neck somehow blends with her big belly, paws and feet.

Crochet from very special pink mohair yarn shot with

coloured bubbles and silver thread.  Dressed in sparkly

white ballet length tutu accented with white ribbons and

matching hair decoration.  She also wears white ribbons

on her large feet, 5-way jointed, blue glass eyes, needle

sculpted face and toes.

Kiora

Fairy dust and magic swirl in the air.  A breeze blows by gently

tickling my ear.  A tiny voice whispers, “Tis not the wind you

feel on this warm sunny day, my name is Kiora and I am a

faerie! I am here to plant flowers and to spread their seed.

Twas the air from my wings you felt as I passed.  See this

seed? It is my last. My staff I will wave and it will be done

and then I am off to have some faerie fun!" I feel wispy softness

against my cheek as she brushes by while fairy dust and

magic suddenly burst in the sky. She grinned and fluttered

a moment or two and then was gone, no longer in view.  I was

inspired to create Kiora as I watched spring blossom into life

around my home.  I couldn’t resist making a fairy to help plant

flower seeds.  I wanted her to look a little like a flower herself,

which is why she has such wonderful colors.  Kiora stands

4-3/4” high and is made from pale green plush thread, multi

colored fun fur and shiny multi-colored metallic thread, brushed

and carefully scissor trimmed face and body.  Black onyx eyes

accented with touch of white, accessorized with blue and purple

bead headdress with matching necklace.  Her magical staff is

made from a grapevine twig highlighted with opal and gold glitter,

sealed with clear glaze and accented with green glass bead.

String jointed neck, arms and legs, steel shot added for weight.

Lorellei

Artist's comments: They say if you search the northern

seas, you may be lucky enough to spot a legendary

merbear.  Lovely white bears that frolick in the sea

by day, then come ashore just before sunset to catch

the last rays of sunshine.  Lorellei is one of those seldom

seen merbears. She loves to tend her little blue anemone

and is seldom without it.  She is aproximately 11” from

the top of her head to the tip of her tail.  She is OOAK

(one of a kind), made of high quality, hand colored threads/

fibers over wire armature.  Her head is attached with cotter-

pins, arms string-jointed with wire inside them to allow easy

posing.  Her eyes are glass and nose embroidered with cotton.

Beads and sequins are carefully added for embellishment.

Hand embroidered anemone features beads over an actual

glass stone.

5.

Barrow, the Unicorn

Artist's comment: Cantering quietly into view, Barrow represents

everything you'd want a Unicorn to be: unusually beautiful and

quite powerful...well, powerful for a thread animal, anyway!

Graceful with his uni-body construction, cotton/wool blend

buttery colored coat, long mane, tail and dark citrus colored

feathering made from softest acrylic yarn with nubs of cording.

Hand painted glass eyes, striking horn hand made from polymer

gently shaded with slightly sparkly effectOne of my biggest

horses yet, Barrow stands just under 6" tall (a little over if you

count his horn).  Stuffed with unbleached cotton batting.

7.

Ollie Bear

6-1/2" tall, Little Ollie was crocheted from a beautifully

luminescent plush yarn.  He has sparkling blue glass eyes

and subltle shading to add character to his happy little face!

Cotterpin/disk jointed head, and thread jointed arms and legs.

Ollie Bear wears a colorful sweater crocheted from gorgeous,

multi-colored, silky ribbon yarn, so beautiful that his mommy

couldn't resist making a big, loopy bow on the bottom of his

sweater (in a very masculine way, of course!).  Ollie's one aim

in life is to make everyone who sees him just as happy and

contented as he is!

Isn`t She Lovely

Artist's comments: As I finished this little bear, the Stevie

Wonder song, "Isn't she lovely?",  popped in my mind and

that was the perfect name for this little beauty!  She is 6"

tall, crocheted from wool mix thread, fully disk jointed, wired

arms for posing, stuffed with wool, steelshot and lots of love.

Her hat and sweater are crocheted from vintage hemp thread

decorated with embroidered flowers.  "Isn't she lovely" is

nominated for Teddy Bear and Friend's TOBY award.

11.

Gemma

Artist's comments: After making my first fairy bear, Primula,

I wanted to make more baby bear fairies.  I found this really

unique Solar Active thread which became my inspiration for

this particular piece. I love to use materials new to me, such

as burned cloth wings, backed by sheer paper wings, no hole

beads, faux flower petals for the dress. It was fun to do, but

took a very long time becouse I kept adding a lot of small

details on this tiny bear.  I called her Gemma, which means

both Gem and Bud in Italian.  Since she is made of white acrylic

wool with Solar Active Thread accents integrated into it, she

turns very bright pastel colors that almost glow, when exposed

to the sunlight.  When not exposed, her color returns to pale

green. Just like a small Bud, Gemma needs the sunlight to

blossom and become a true Gem.  Gemma's pretty face, feet

and wings are painted with metallic pink acrylic paint, 1mm

onyx bead eyes.  She is less than 5 cm tall, from ears to toes.

12.

Violet

Violet is a gentle soul, just like the flower, after which she is

named.  She could not decide what colour ribbon to wear, so

she chose one that includes a soft rainbow.  Then, she can

coordinate with lot of the flowers in the garden.  She stands

4.25” tall, made from silk, mohair blend yarn, brushed into

a halo.  Cotterpin jointed head, string jointed limbs, black

floss nose, black glass eyes, sweet smile.

13.

Seymour

Artist's comments: I bought the softest 2-ply French Angora

yarn while living in Toronto.  It becomes so fragile when

dividing it into individual strands with which to crochet that

I must have started making a bear nearly 10 times, before

finally finishing Seymour.  I wanted to keep him unadorned

so that the softness of his fur and the expression of his face

could shine through and show his true spirit.  Teeny, tiny

Seymour stands about 1.5" tall.  Crocheted from pale grey

Angora thread, black onyx eyes, dark grey cotton embroidered

accents, 5-way string jointed, stuffed with 100% polyester.

14.

Florian

8 inches tall charmer and just look at that feisty attitude!

Full of fun and lots of child-like energy that will steal their

way into your heart!  The layered effect of his "fur" is

achieved by an eclectic mix of several different fibers.

5-way jointed, black glass eyes, features stitched in

brown DMC thread.

Rakitty Raccoon

The raccoon stood on his back legs and lifted his head as he

surveyed the surrounding fields. He was headed for the little

stream just over the hill to fish for dinner. Twitching, his

inquisitive nose caught the scent of the water and his black

eyes gleamed as he sprang lightly through the tall grass

in search of his meal. Artist's notes: The raccoons around

my home always make me smile. Their inquisitive nature is

fun to watch as they ramble around. I decided it was time

to try and make one of these charming little animals and

voila - Rakitty Raccoon was born. Rakitty stands 4-3/4” tall

to the tips of his ears, crocheted from gray, white and black

plush thread in artist's own design. His "fur" was brushed and

carefully scissor trimmed in the face area and body. Black

onyx eyes accented with tiny touch of white to help them pop

from the black surrounding his face. His head is disc-jointed

and his arms and legs are thread jointed. Firmly stuffed with

cotton and steel shot added for added weight. I decided against

any embellishments to maintain his “wild” nature.

16.

Damy

Artist's comments: I have a passion for knitting, and I knitted

this Sunday dress which led me to create the perfect, little bear

to wear it! 3" tall, crocheted from Magic thread, brushed for a

softer, furry look.  5-way jointed, disk-jointed head, stuffed with

wool and steel shot for extra weight to help her stand on her own.

embroidered and shaded facial futures and claws, embroidered,

waxed and polished nose.

17.

Edith LaPif

Artist's comments: Edith La Pif is my homage to one of my

favorite singers, Edith Piaf! My Edith is a happy little bear,

who loves to sing and dance! This intriguing creature is an

8” tall, OOAK (one-of-a-kind) bear of thread.   Crocheted

from many quality threads and fibers, her skirt alone has

over four different kind of fibers in it! 5-way jointed so

she can pose to her heart's content.  Her lovely hat is

fashioned over a wire armature and is removable.  Sparkling

glass eyes and carefully hand embroidered nose are wonderfully

ezquisite finishing touches!

Madame DuBeary

Artist's comments: I don't make drawings when planning my

bears. Instead, I work to an image I have in my mind's eye.

I can't stop working, adding, changing, taking away, until the

esthetic sense that connects to that mental image, is satisfied.

It is as if a final piece of a puzzle is laid in place. Then, I know

instinctively, the piece is finished.  Madame DuBeary, bold

and daring in her choice of fashion, wears a vibrantly hued

gown crocheted of gorgeous, soft as silk, hand-dyed, cotton

thread in a multitude of delicious colors, over her one-piece

white camisole/knee-length pantalets.  Her lacy camisole

peeks out coquettishly above her bodice, in 18th century

fashion. Her chapeau is the height of style, with it's brim

upturned on one side, roses, beads, rhinestone, and feathers.

Her ensemble is enhanced by a flirtatious fan with filigree

handle, trimmed with a sapphire-colored swarovski crystal.

A beautiful glass bead/swarovski crystal necklace completes

the look.  5-3/4 tall, Madame DuBeary was crocheted from

fine angora mohair.  She has black glass eyes, long eyelashes,

crystal beauty mark beside her left eye, cotter-pin/disk jointed

head, and thread jointed arms.  Her body and legs are crocheted

in one piece from the neck down, with a shapely feminine form,

and the legs are wired for posing.

20.

Kiya

Artist's comments: Measuring just over 4", Kiya comes

to you from the far North.  She has an almost luminescent

glow in her creamy colored  Angora body showcased in her

unique singular body design: one continuous head, neck,

hump, back, and rear - NO sculpting was used to achieve

her curves.   Gently shaded to further her appeal, onyx

eyes, jointed limbs for full poseability.
