Bridgette
OOAK mohair bear only 5 ¾” tall. 5-way jointed. cotter pin
jointed head allows her head to bobble a bit! Her body is made
by a method of faux crazy quilting, hand-tinted and colored.
She is then dressed in layers that complement each other
and beading is added for adornment. She carries her little
bear, Boshi, in her tiny purse. Bridgette's eyes are glass
and her nose is carefully hand-embroidered .

Madame DuBeary
Artist's comments: I don't make drawings when planning my
bears. Instead, I work to an image I have in my mind's eye.
I can't stop working, adding, changing, taking away, until the
esthetic sense that connects to that mental image, is satisfied.
It is as if a final piece of a puzzle is laid in place. Then, I know
instinctively, the piece is finished. Madame DuBeary, bold
and daring in her choice of fashion, wears a vibrantly hued
gown crocheted of gorgeous, soft as silk, hand-dyed, cotton
thread in a multitude of delicious colors, over her one-piece
white camisole/knee-length pantalets. Her lacy camisole
peeks out coquettishly above her bodice, in 18th century
fashion. Her chapeau is the height of style, with it's brim
upturned on one side, roses, beads, rhinestone, and feathers.
Her ensemble is enhanced by a flirtatious fan with filigree
handle, trimmed with a sapphire-colored swarovski crystal.
A beautiful glass bead/swarovski crystal necklace completes
the look. 5-3/4 tall, Madame DuBeary was crocheted from
fine angora mohair. She has black glass eyes, long eyelashes,
crystal beauty mark beside her left eye, cotter-pin/disk jointed
head, and thread jointed arms. Her body and legs are crocheted
in one piece from the neck down, with a shapely feminine form,
and the legs are wired for posing.

Esperanza Moongazer
This 5" tall, Pierrot style clown mouse, is in love with the Moon.
Born under the sign of Cancer, her moods are ruled by the Moon.
Her downcast eyes often brim over with tears, which has resulted
in a permanent tear staining her cheek. Esperanza's complexion
is of the finest pale gray mohair, which shows off her flush of pink
airbrushing. Wobbly neck jointed, plucked tiny feet and paws.
Ffeet, tail, and eyelids made of antique-rose ultra suede. Esperanza's
comely visage is plucked and subtly airbrushed above her gorgeous
emerald glass hand painted eyes. Her pale pink nose and mouth
are delicately embroidered and nestled into a well formed needle
sculpted and trimmed muzzle. She has white horsehair whiskers.
Her ears made of wool felt and are lightly airbrushed with gray and pink.
Lavender/black vintage velvet clown hat topped with black pom-pom.
Underneath the hat dangles her version of a clown's wig-black and
white beaded glass fringe. Pierrot style smock. All sewn by hand.
Lavender silk ribbon with antique gold embossed heart, antique
French cotton lace ruff. She sits on a dark teal panne velvet tuffet
with black and white beaded glass fringe.

Akina
Artist's comments: I found a very small scrap of fabric
from a dress my mom had in the 60's and I was very
tempted by the unusual combination of bright orange,
hot pink, green and white. I played with it, combining
vintage orange rayon and peaches-and-cream long pile
fabric. This is a very unusual piece for me, for many
reasons. I didn't have a specific idea in mind when I
started and that was probably a limit in designing the
bear, but gave me a lot more freedom to experiment.
I tried new things, such as eyelids and painted eyes.
The colors are also unusual, becouse I'm more attracted
to earth and blue tones. Akina is made with peaches-and-
cream long pile fabric and bright orange vintage rayon.
She's built over a wire armature. Brown glass bead eyes
with eyelids, partially painted. Vintage cotton dress with
glass beads, crocheted scarf and flower accents. She's
only 5,5 cm high.

striped seersucker with straw hat trimmed with pink and

Agnes
Artist's comments: The inspiration for this piece came from some
white fabric I thought would be perfect for a Lamb and once I found
the little rubber shoes, it naturally followed that it would be a girl
lamb. It was a nice challenge to combine a crocheted muzzle
with a fabric head and to work with wire armature, similar to those
I'm using on cloth dolls. Made with cotton nubby fabric, crocheted
limbs, ears and muzzle, built over wire armature, so she is fully
posable. Brown glass bead eyes, rubber blue shoes and felt dress.
She's 7 cm tall.

Virgil P. Tombstone
5 " tall, Virgil is a mohair Cowmouse ready for adventure!
His hand-painted eyes are as blue as a Colorado sky
although a bit sleepy from riding all day in the saddle.
Although the weathered leather saddle is perched
on a motorcycle, Virgil still considers himself a genuine
Cowmouse. His mauve nose and mouse are embroidered
with perle cotton thread and face trimmed to show off
his 5:00 shadow. Needle sculpted for character. Virgil's
mohair is two toned black gray with sand colored backing
enriched with airbrushing, wobble neck kointed, wool felt
ears, tail and foot soles of mauve ultra-suede, brick red
cowboy hat, gold ultra-suede vest with bead buttons and
western detailing, black and white calico kerchief. Keys
hang from his buckled black and white "Holstein" chaps
(made of upholstery velvet.) A handy leather strap around
his rifle resides on Virgil's shoulder in case he ever gets
to ride an actual horse out West.

My Favorite
Artist's comments: I wish it was possible for everyone to hold
and feel this little Ted. He is totally wobble jointed, not with
disks and cotterpins as usual, but with disks and teeny tiny
ball joints making him very poseable. No other joint can pose
and move better than ball joints. 3.5" long, facial details and
claws are embroidered and shaded, waxed nose, big feet and
big round tummy, stuffed with wool and steelshot for nice weight.
Everyone has something favorite and for Teddy, it is his artist
handknit sweater. Little bear head added to the front of the sweater.
Ted loves to cuddle it and pulls the sweater out of shape as
he does so.

Serendipity
Artist's comments: To me, Serendipity represents the perfect
image of what the Faerie of Needlework, would look like! Perhaps
you've noticed her presence, though you didn't actually see
anyone -- an unusually difficult row of crochet or knitting stitches
just happened to come out right, even though you could have
sworn you had miscounted. Or, the nose on the latest bear
came out just right; how did that happen? Just a tiny sprinkling
of her fairy dust, and the frustration is forgotten, only the soothing
satisfaction remains. 3-1/4" tall, crocheted from lace-weight
mohair, soulful brown glass eyes, embroidered and shaded features,
cotter-pin and disk-jointed head, arms and legs thread jointed.
She wears finery fit for a fairy, crocheted in vibrant rainbow
shades of softest hand-dyed cotton, enhanced with tiny glass
beads. Her pretty lhead is crowned with a hat fit for a princess,
made with rounds of colorful crochet, beads, and topped with
spectacular Czech glass button.

Binar
Artist's explanation of her inspiration: As a lecturer on
computers, I have an active interest in the internal
workings of computers. Occasionally, fancy takes flight,
and I imagine little characters inside the computer, working
diligently and generally maintaining the performance. I see
Binar as one of these imaginary service workers, inside the
computer. Just 2.875” tall, created from long pile upholstery
fabric in gold on dark brown backing. Completely designed
and hand sewn, white ultrasuede paw pads, onyx bead eyes,
hand colored detailing, perle cotton nose enhanced by moulded
wax, then varnished. Binar’s face is both needle and scissor
sculpted, clothed in dungarees and matching hat . The fabric
for Binar’s clothes is covered with numbering. He also carries
a computer silicon chip created by needle felting and enhanced
with pins for connection.

Mary Beary
Quite Contrary, how does your garden grow? As you can see
from her expression, she has quite an attitude. Can't you just
see her stamping her pretty little purple-shod foot in a spoiled
bit of a tantrum? She does love her flowers, but I feel pretty
sure that she has a gardener who does the actual work! Just
shy of 3" tall, she's crocheted from baby alpaca, 5-way jointed,
her head and arms are cotter pin/disk jointed, and her legs
are thread jointed. Blue glass eyes, embroidered and shaded features.
Mary's outfit is crocheted from colorful hand-painted cotton thread,
trimmed with lustrous white. Her dress and shoes are incorporated
as part of the bear, while her hat and lacy pantalettes are removable.
