We bestow upon you, our readers, as collectors and enthusiasts,
the privilege to choose the artist you believe, has ventured beyond
where others have dared to tread, blazing trails to the next age of fine
bear art, knowing the path less traveled can become the road to follow!
You will vote for the ONE creation per category, which you believe
possesses the indefinable quality to free you and others, from earthly
ties - the piece that cries out for recognition - pulling at your heartstrings
while revealing hidden aspects of the artist who created it.
URSA is not just another name for bear or a constellation, URSA is an
acronym for the criteria, by which we ask readers to judge each entry:

9: tall, made from luxurious hand-dyed curly 40mm Schulte
in shades of peach, green and cream. Ivory alpaca muzzle,
ears and tummy. :imbs are nut & bolt jointed, wobble neck
jointed head, sculpted ultrasuede paws, lovely bright orange
nose.

Heather Jane Eggles
12" tall rabbit made mostly of mohair but with ears of wool
and velour. Locline skeleton is attached to independently
twisting disc neck, which allows her to tilt her neck from
side to side and turn it in any direction. Her body is stuffed
softly so that she can move her arms, legs, spine, and neck
in a very natural way, too. Feet, paws and face are needle
sculpted fo dimensional toes, great mouth definition and
depth, and subtle reality for her face. Hand painted toes
and paw pads. Leather covered toes, hand painted, luminous
sparkling clear blue and magenta glass eyes. They peer
from beneath ultra suede eyelids with taupe eyeliner and
are shadowed with gray airbrushing. Airbrushing on her
face and body creates realistic colors, contrasts and subtle
blending, pink blush inside lop ears. Heather holds a green
egg she found the day she first met her true love, B. B. Bailey.

Each of Marion's creations, is a Marion Fraile one-of-a-kind
original, designed without a pattern. 13" tall, crochted from
three different threads, partially running parallel. 5-way jointed,
high quality German glass eyes, hand stitched black DMC
thread features, collar/bib sewn from vintage lace piece.

"show" look. Scissor sculpted face, for an adorable look.
Pawpads and inner ears are the same plush material
trimmed short, amethyst eyes and black nose are made
of premium German glass, violet and fuchsia hand painted
accents on her face, ears and feet. Fully jointedm wired
arms for posing & holding her little bone. Wears a leather
and diamond studded collar, filled with polyfil, BB's in
her tummy for a weighted lovable huggable feel.

Arid: The Dryer Fairy
Artist's comments: This little fellow is completely made
from dryer lint. Although he is only 6 inches tall, he has
the capability of carrying off stray socks twice his size.
His wings are, as you might expect, made out of dryer
sheets that have been starched, sprayed with a delicate
glitter paint for fabric and then embellished with a silver
paint pen. Legend has it that these little bear fairies live
in dryers all over the world, collecting stray socks and
whatever they can get their grubby little paws on. Arid
does look genuinely sorry though perched precariously
on top of a miniature box of Tide detergent.

Sauvage (means wild in French)
Artist's comments: I wanted to make a wild looking but
huggeable bear and after many hours of trial and error,
i created the being, Sauvage! He fulfilled my goal even
more than I ever imagined he would! Sauvage is 11.2"
tall and made of luxurious brown tipped mohair. Head,
legs and bended arms are fully jointed, embroidered
and varnished nose, sweetly detailed mouth and tail,
gazes at the world through black glass eyes. Best
of all, he can stand unaided. After all, he is a wild bear!

Pearl
One-of-a-kind, 10" tall, beauty is made of original German
Schulte mohair, soft as silk, dense straight 24mm pile length.
This design has been created with a puffy-cheeked look (the
puffy cheeks are snowy leopard insets) and handmade polymer
clay eyelids. Glass eyes have been custom painted in gorgeous
hazlenut colour, limbs are nut & bolt jointed and head is fitted
with wobble neck joint. Sculpted ivory cashmere paws. Filled
with heavy polyester/tender touch granules and bag of steel
balls for added lifelike appeal.

Artist's comments: Philander is such a different piece for me
since I have never created such a tall and thin legged creation
like this! I am loving Philander and cannot wait to see where he
leads me! 13" tall, rayon with Alpaca belly for super softness,
premium quality glass eyes, long cotton whiskers, airbrush
enhanced to add character and bring out his many features,
wired arms & legs for all the best poses!

Buttercup
Artist's comments: This handmade sewn bear, 10" tall, seems
almost magical - the sort of creature you would imagine dancing
with the faeries and other wee folk, one midsummer's eve, by the
light of the moon. Made from vintage 100% wool coat, fully jointed,
imported German glass eyes, ultra suede paws, polyfibre stuffing,
embroidered body, claws and nose. Adorned with plaid ribbon and
hand sewn ribbon flowers.

Barney
Artist's comments: Barny is an adorable 12" tall, traditional style
bear, created from beautiful Steinlein mohair. Created with very
careful and meticulous attention to detail. Mischievious eyes
are black with white rims, deeply sculpted eye sockets, hand-
stitched nose, extensively needle sculpted head and face. Paw
pads deliciously needle sculpted with added ink shading to create
even more depth! Barny's classic look is completed by a simple
ribbon threaded through a hand-carved wooden button around his
neck. Barny is very proud of his antique wooden train, which
unfortunately he doesn’t like to share. Oh well, with those eyes,
we can overlook this one little flaw.

Robbie - Talk to the Paw
Robbie is saying it all with the wave of his hand! But underneath
that smirk of his, he is hiding his true identity as the top mystery
writer “Lola”. Robbie is 15” tall, made from mink colored mohair,
dark brown suede paw pads, scissor-trimmed and needle sculpted
features, German glass eyes, needle-felted nose, hand painted
facial highlights, embroidered claws on his paws, stuffed with
polyfill, wears a collar wutg medallion that reads, “Talk to the
Paw”. Watch what you say to Robbie, he might growl at you from
the growler in his tummy.
