Sir Sparrow, Grey Tiger Cat
Artist's comments: Yes, this is Sir Sparrow, Lord of the Woodland.
In ordinary life he is a domestic housecat. But in his heart, Sir
Sparrow is "Lord of the Wild T hings!" Sitting height is 14" (size
of a real 10-pound cat), imported Belgium plush with ultra suede
features, needle sculptured, hand dyed and colored coat markings,
eyes handpainted and set in handmade eye sockets, head and
front legs (front legs also armatured) jointed. Polyfil stuffed plus
steel shot for added weight, and crocheted cape with feather
details, feather headpiece.

Melody
Crocheted from "magic thread", a special thread that assumes
a fur-like appearance when brushed out. Melody stands 8" tall,
5-way jointed, high quality green glass eyes with black pupils,
features stitched in brown DMC thread, wears hand knitted
cardigan in green shades with purple crocheted edges, white
Mary Jane-style shoes, soft crocheted white head band.

Crystabelle
Artist's comments: 9.5" tall, Southern belle made with short
dense white mohair. She is wearing a vintage 50's era doll
dress, which previously belonged to a Revlon doll. The dress
belonged to my sister and I played with it, as a child, too.
The doll is long gone but somehow the dress survived and
served as the inspiration for this piece. I altered it to fit
this beautiful bear and used its excess material to fashion
a head bow and fan. Her dress has approximately 300
handsewn rhinestones on it - definitely one-of-a-kind.
Also wears leather shoes and is weighted with steel shot
so she can stand freely. She has a needlefelted face,
fimo nose, onyx bead eyes and is fully wired and posable.

4.
Karat
Artist's comments: My goal was to create a “fairy” bear with
hand made wings. Karat is her name, which means she is the
“Keeper of the Gold Fairy”. At 13" tall, she is a smaller size
than I normally create. Her wings are made of two sheets
of self-stick laminate with gold wire and glitter inbetween and
are permanently attached to her back with mohair covering
the joints. Her wodden, "gold" brick is covered with gold metallic
paper and has 24K embossed on it. I gave her corded eyelids
and a heavily sculpted mouth. Her fur is pale blond curly
matted mohair, wool felt cathedral stitched paw pad, German
glass eyes with eyelids coated with gold glitter paint as is her
perle cotton embroidered nose and mouth, Handmade wings
of laminate in free form pattern. Outfit consists of a glitter
sprinkled tutu with “petals” of gold on a purple backing,
crocheted suspenders, gold bow at the waist, head wreath
is gold-wired beading, also wears a gold pearl-like necklace.

chorus of Swan Lake some day. Her tiny head and skinny
neck somehow blends with her big belly, paws and feet.

coloured bubbles and silver thread. Dressed in sparkly
white ballet length tutu accented with white ribbons and
matching hair decoration. She also wears white ribbons
on her large feet, 5-way jointed, blue glass eyes, needle

Lorellei
They say if you search the northern seas, you may be
lucky enough to spot a legendary merbear. Lovely white
bears that frolick in the sea by day, then come ashore
just before sunset to catch the last rays of sunshine.
Lorellei is one of those seldom seen bears. She loves
to tend her little blue anemone and is seldom without it.
She is aproximately 11” from the top of her head to the
tip of her tail. She is OOAK (one of a kind), made of high
quality, hand colored threads/fibers over wire armature.
Her head is attached with cotter pins, arms string-jointed
with wire inside them to allow easy posing. Her eyes are
glass and nose is carefully embroidered with cotton.
Beads and sequins are carefully added for embellishment.
Hand embroidered anemone features beads over an actual
glass stone.

George
Artist's comments: The charming and world weary George
is a tribute to my 94-year old Grandfather, George Englesby.
We so often give our teddiesr human characteristics, that
I got to wondering what a Bruinwerks bear would look like
if it was aged like its human counterparts. George is roughly
15" tall and is constructed from a scarred and weathered
vintage leather. He has shoe button eyes and is fully jointed
with armatured arms. Meticulously needle sculpted and has
a receding hairline of hundreds (I stopped counting at 800)
of individual leather curls. Custom clothing is non removable
and is made from ultra suede and cotton.

green, ultra-suede eyelids with black eyeliner, white horsehair

Hippichick
Artist's comments: A friend of mine, Angie, inspired me
to create this bear. Angie wears a lot of tribal and hippie
clothes. Since the bears I usually create are normally
dressed in a traditional way, (using antique doll clothes
and accessories), experiment with tribal clothing and
accessories to create a `hippie` looking bear, would be
something completey different for me. 14" tall, Hippichick's
body is mohair and her paw pads are cashmere. She has
glass eyes, cotter pin joints, stuffed with polyester/cotton
filling and plastic pellets. The clothing and jewellery she
wears has been created from original tribal items.

12.
Suzikyu
Artist's comments: The name Suzikyu doesn't mean
anything in Japanese, as far as I know, and if it does,
it's purely coincidental! Suzikyu was named after her
creator, who, while given the same of Susan, has fond
memories of being called Suzie-Q as a child. 7" tall,
Suzikyu is a fashionable and trendy preteen sort of beary
beauty. She dresses in the latest styles including mini
skirts and midriff-baring tops. She loves her comfy little
ballet flats with the pretty flowers. Her roomy bag can
hold all the necessities a busy little girl-bear might need.
Suzikyu was designed after the Japanese style, but with
modifications that include longer arms and legs. She and
her clothes were crocheted from high-quality Angora mohair,
and her shoes are cotton chenille. She has black glass eyes,
embroidered and shaded features, cotter-pin and disk-jointed
head, arms, and legs.

Take Me To Your Luau
Artist's comments: When on Earth, do as the humans do. Or,
at least those humans that live on the Hawaiian Islands. A Luau
is a great place for any Alien to become accustomed to our ways
and learn what we like to do best...relax and party! This vacationing
little alien stands 6 inches tall and is made in the Amigurumi/Japanese
Style out of a sparse cream mohair tea dyed in Green Tea. She's
wearing Bikini top out of Hawaiian print, lovely matching felt hibiscus
flower in her ear and the mandatory crepe silk grass skirt accented
with a matching bead trim. Aloha!

17.
Frosty
Artist's comments: Frosty was a challenge for me, as he
is a big bear - 10" tall. I experimented with joints and
body shapes to create him. His body is crocheted in two
parts with 100% angora for paws, feet and head and face
in a fuzzy yarn. His darling clown suit is crocheted from
70% Angora/30 % wool, so is the head. The collar is
crocheted from metallic thread, edged with gold ribbon
and the decoration is gold ribbon, too. I crocheted along
one side in a way so that the ribbon curls very nice.
Attached to the ends, are little jingle bells. His sleeve
edgesare fashioned with the same ribbon. Another ribbon,
but this time, a vintage one, was used on the center
of his clown suit. Frosty's clown nose is needlefelted,
eyes are black German glass on ultra suede patches,
limbs disk/cotterpin jointed, head is disk/ball joint so it
wobbles and turns all directions, firmly stuffed and his
feet have steel shot. His body is stuffed with rubber,
which gives him a sloppy, weighted feel. Balloons are
crocheted from DMC perle. Frosty did blow up almost
all of them, but he had so many to do, it made him very
tired!

19.
Sailor Cat Roly-Poly
Artist's comments: 8 ½" tall, roly-poly is an inspiration
from my Antique toy collection. I love to collect as well
as create novelty items and pieces different from the
traditional teddy bear artist. Many roly-poly pals have
found their way to collectors of my work, but none really
the same. Each piece is individual and embellished
in some way. Sailor Cat seemed an appropriate entry
as a tribute to our service men and women. As with
many of my creations, I have incorporated some vintage
items. The navy blue wool used to construct the body
and collar is vintage and has a "wooly" appearance.
The tape used to create the collar as well as the anchor
buttons, are also vintage. The roly-poly is weighted
and some dried lavender added to ward off predators
of wool. German mohair face and paws, jointed head
and arms, hand painted eyes, shaded and waxed floss
nose and whiskers added.

Tulip
Artist's comments: Tulip is a new design and an Limited Edtion
of two. The inspiration for Tulip, came from an old knitting book
of pattern designs. I love tulips since they are a wonderful sign
of Spring! So, I designed a costume incorporating them plus my
love for knitted clothing. I hand knit her quaint coat and hat from
fine Egyption cotton yarn, which possesses a subtle sheen in rich
colors of grape, rose, periwinkle blue, garden green and natural.
The tulips are knit in a border all around the botton of the coat.
A tulip shaped hat with crocheted edging, tops her off. Underneath,
Tulip wears a sleevless cotton floral print dress. Her fur is sand
colored dense curly mohair. Features include inset muzzle and
paw pads of short dense mohair with stitched-on suede blanket
pieces. Waxed nose displays a hint of blush. Antique shoe button
eyes add to the hand crafted look. Jointed with lock nuts, bolts
and hardboard discs. Firmly stuffed with poly fiberfil, 12" tall.
