Polar Bear Cub
This polar bear cub is just a few steps away from his mom,
searching for food, fun, or whatever he can find. Stretched
up on his tippy-toes, he measures about 17 inches tall.
Created from wonderfully soft alpaca, with double-jointed
neck, little cub-sized tail, hand painted sparkling glass
eyes set into satin cord eyelids, armatures in all four limbs
to allow posing, embroidered ultrasuede paw pads. His face
is enhanced with Prismacolor shading and needle-sculpting.

Roger
Artist's comments: My inspiration for Roger came from
a collection of black bear figurines that I own, whose
coloring, facial expressions, and style, I have always
loved. Roger is the bear with the “look” I have wanted
to achieve. throughout my five years of bear making!
Roger stands a tall 21” and was created from the softest,
densest, one-inch long black alpaca with muzzle and
chest inserts of sand alpaca. Paw pads are black real
leather, black German glass eyes with a bit of white felt
peeking out behind them. Muzzle stuffed with a bit of
excelsior and the remainder is polyfilled with a generous
addition of tiny glass beads for a wonderful “hold me and
never put me down” weight. Of course, the sweet cub had
to have a voice so I gave him a growler deep in his tummy.
Roger carries his “catch of the day” on his wooden fish
necklace, strung on an elastic cord.

Sherwood
Artist's comments: I set out to make a prototype for a wild
bear and the result was 23" tall Sherwood, my new, extremely
detailed, realistic design. He is created from hand-dyed
German mohair with alpaca mohair "ruff" around his neck.
I detailed him with wool needle felted paws (each with five
finger and toe pads), with extensively detailed pads. His
muzzle and eye areas are also needle felted. He sees through
taxidermy glass bear eyes and sniffs at the all the world's
glorious smells, through his leather sculpted, hand painted
nose. I cast his claws from resin which is a multi-step.
laborious process. This was my first attempt to create such
a complicated bear. His claws are also hand painted for even
more realism. Sherwood has armatured arms to increase his
posing abilities. A myriad of details are airbruhsed into infinite,
multi-layered colors. I believe Sherwood is my masterpiece,
the bear I always dreamed I would create!

Zanzibar
Artist’s comments: Zanzibar's beautiful turquoise and gold ruff
complements the colors of his embroidered nose, which served
as my inspiration for this piece. The sumptuous colors of his
nose transported me to thoughts of far-away, exotic places.

ultra suede paw pads, hazel eyes on white wool felt backing,
multi coloured cotton stitched nose, nut and bolt jointed,
polyester filled, steel shot added to help Zanzibar stand

Michtom
Artist's comments: I made Michtom to honour Morris Michton,
from Brooklyn, New York – believed to be the first person
to design and sell a toy bear called Teddy. I tried very hard
to achieve an intelligent, strong, but kind face. Michtom is
24” tall, made of brown mohair tipped with dark brown, safety
eyes, ultra suede paw pads, bolted wooden joints, polyester
and wool stuffing. Michtom is a new size and pattern for me.

Bigsby
Artist's comments: Bigsby is a one-of-a-kind bear inspired
by an antique bear I saw in a local antique mall. He has an

of German Schulte mohair, hand dyed and distressed to look
vintage. German glass eyes, hand embroidered nose, wool

Olivia
Artist's comments: This is one hefty armful of bear. I hope you've
been lifting weights, because Olivia weighs more than 7pounds!
That's more than my son weighed when he was born!) Olivia is
the largest bear I've made in a long time. About 22" tall, bentleg
design, created from soft fur that has mottled colors of cream,
beigish-tan and pale brown. Five wobble joints give her that
floppy newborn baby feel plus she is filled with polyfill and glass
beads. Self facing paw pads with needle-sculpted toe, neckpiece
artist-created out of glass beads. For a finishing touch, because
she is so baby-like, I put in a traditional key-wind music box that
plays Brahm's Lullaby. The key for the music box mechanism is
in the middle of her back.

Tyger Roonie
Artist's comments: 20" tall cinnamon Black Bear cub, Tyger
Roonie, was a walk down memory lane for me as I revisited
a ten year old bear cub pattern. He is very unique and very
much one of a kind since I will not be using this pattern again.
It was fun to see his little personality evolve as I unraveled
the secrets to my old pattern. Like a real cub, he is often
quizzical, innocent, sometimes pitiful, but always playful.
Made of gorgeous, dense cinnamon mohair with black tips,
airbrushed all over. Instead of traditional joints, he has
a Loc-line skeleton with a "pop bead-like" movement, every
inch. Old distinctive black urethane sculpted rubber nose,
dark brown leather paw pads, open mouth. Bushy eyebrows
complete with little errant eyebrow whiskers poking out. Paw
pads needle-sculpted to create toes and creases on his little
leather feet. Olive green glass eyes are set into dark brown
leather eyelids with auburn human eyelashes, large rounded
ears are set to the side, just like a real bear cub's. Tyger
Roonie's little body has a tiny tail, proud chest, and very
rounded haunches which allow him plenty of leg movement,
can stand on "all fours," sit teddy bear style, lay down, or
stand (with some support), and most importantly cuddle.
Feet and bottom weighted with plastic and soft pellets.

Freida
Artist's comments: How's this for funky color? I saw this fur
and just couldn't resist! After all, I admit it, I'm one of the
Purple People! Anyway, this is a very soft purple fur, I believe
of Asian origin, with streaks of pink in it. Freida is about 17"
tall in a bent leg design, filled her with polyfill and plastic pellets.
Standard jointed arms and legs, wobble head, pink wired neck
ribbon at her neck.
