Goldilocks
Artist's comments: This laughing little bear might be considered
a “changeling” from the storybook tale of Goldilocks and the Three
Bears, for she is a little girl teddy bear who was born with golden,
curly hair! Goldilocks is for me a personal triumph in exploring
new ways to make my passion for creating teddy bears more
challenging and fun. I incorporated a scalp-like area, into her
head’s design, consisting of long, curly mohair that I hand-dyed
in a pale blond color. This happy toddler shows off her sets
of upper and lower glass teeth, which are individually set into
her ultra suede mouth. Sparkling, hand painted eyes with leather
and satin cord eyelids. She stands just under 22" tall in her
“bear feet” and is created from German mohair. Armatured
in all four limbs to enable her to stand unaided and clutch her
precious “Golly” ragdoll. I designed Goldilocks’ romper to suit
her personality perfectly! Her toddler-sized summer sandals
complete her look.

2.
Ariella
Artist's comments: This is my first ever crocheted bear
of this size. Most of my pieces are normally much smaller!
16" tall, Ariella is an original, one-of-a-kind Marion Fraile
creation designed without a pattern! Born from soft white
chenille thread with features stitched in black thread, Her
eyes are glass in a soft brown shade with black pupils. Body
is stuffed with white polyfil and her limbs are sewn on loosely
to allow easy posing. D isc and cotter pin attached head
so she moves easily for a natural look. Ariella's clothing
consists of romper-style pants hand crocheted of variegated
thread in several soft baby pastel shades and vest crocheted
from eyelash thread in a dustry rose shade. Both pieces, as
well as the head band with five crocheted buds made from the
same thread and the pants, have matching green/blue edge.

3.
Tequila
Artist's commments: My inspiration for Tequila began with
a vintage wool child’s Mariachi suit. I decided the suit
would look best if I could prevent cutting it down too much
- which meant it would need to create a bigger bear to wear
it! Of course, it had to be JUST the right bear, to fit into it.
I tried a new technique on Tequila, too. Instead of using felt
backing behind his glass eyes, I hand painted the eye details
before setting the eyes. I also gave Tequila Loc-Line armatures
in his arms, legs AND neck for total flexibility. Tequila is 29”
tall, made of sparse rust mohair, aged wool felt paw pads,
Center head seam and longer muzzle for vintage appearance.
German glass eyes, hand painted details for adorably innocent
expression. Burnt orange wool Mariachi suit has loads of white
decorative trim and a matching child sized velvet sombrero, hand
made bow tie to match. Wears black shiny patent leather lace-up
boots and carries real maracas from Mexico. Tequila also decided
he needed a "voice" so I installed a growler!

Captain Cruise
Artist's comments: The Captain was my donation to the
Children's Aid Teddy Bear Gala and will be featured in their
calendar of artist bears. He turned ouy larger than my
usual bears and I had to tweak the pattern as I was
creating the bear. I made two sets of legs when I saw
his feet were too small, the first time. Captain Cruise
serves aboard the HMS Hibernation, a very special
cruise ship. Contrary to popular opinion, bears don't
really hibernate in the winter. They cruise the South
Pacific, instead, under the stewardship of Captain Cruise,
who is an imposing 18" tall! This stately bear is made
from dense, long wavy mohair fabric. Long face with deep
set black glass eyes, navy blue nose matches his elegant
suit jacket. Jacket is cut short in the front and swoops
into a short set of tails in the back. It features gold
epalettes and gold buttons adorned with anchors and
white stripes on the sleeves. Crisp white shirt frame
his handsome face. Outfit is completed by navy hat
trimmed with gold and white trim and adorned with gold
star. Cotter pin jointed head, screw and lock nut jointed
limbs, needle sculpted, trimmed and shaded paw pads.

Hector Rabbit
Artist's comments: This rabbit is a progression of my earlier
rabbits. I have added felt discs to the eyes for added depth
and scissor sculpted eyebrows. This is the first time I have
used Fimo to make his carrot accessory. I also stenciled
carrot prints onto his handmade waistcoat. Made from taupe
faux fur, wired ears and arms for posing, features shaded
with oil paints and fine fabric markers to accentuate his
expression. Footpads made of contrasting faux fur, glass
eyes, cotter pin jointed, stuffed with heavy poly fibre and
steel shot in his body and woodwool/poly fibre in his head.

Zandermis, Bears of the Teddy Bear Clan" Series
This OOAK series is a clan of bears that lived in the days
before the ice age - forest dwellers that existed together
in harmony and had a great love for their land. The clan
had a highly developed society that relegated social status
within the clan community - everyone had their place and
lived accordingly. The head of this Clan was a great Father
Bear named Zandermis. Wise Zandermis, was loved by all
because he would do anything for his clan. He would walk
for many miles and sometimes days to atttend secret tribal
gatherings with other great Father Bears. Father Bear
Zandermis, the first in the "Bears of the Teddy Bear Clan"
series, the Walking Bears. Made from recycled sheared
beaver furm ever-so soft. Hand paintedFace, hands, and
feet are sculpted clay. Glass, violet colored eyes enhanced
for realism. Face and ears have been enhanced with red
sable mink fur, ears decorated with tiger eye stones and
carved bone. Fully 5-way jointed with armatured arms,
double jointed neck, can be posed to sit or stand. Wears
spotted rabbit-skin cape that honors his clan status. He
also has a belt to carry his knife and medicine bag. Proudly
wears a necklace made of tiger-eye stones and red bear
claws that remind him of a young man's first hunt. In the
necklace center, hangs the clan's symbol, passed down
from generation to generation. His staff designates his
lineage and leadership and was taken from a tree in the
village, that grew strong as he did. This staff is decorated
with carved bone and feathers and topped with the stone
of vision. 23: tall, comes complete with all items shown.

MacBeth
Artist's comments: Definitely one of those "once in a lifetime"
bears! This gorgeous 29" tall bear created of string mohair
and has butter soft leather paw pads. Amber colored eyes
with pupils. Soft air brushing and loads of character lovingly
added. His gorgeous kilt outfit was hand made in Scotland
in the colors of the MacBeth clan. Jacket from child's suit
altered to waist length in back and pointed front waist. His
bagpipes even work! He has a MacBeth pin on his scarf and
a large kilt pin to hold his kilt closed. A sporran (little rabbit

weighs a substantial 12-½ pounds.

16.
Jed
Artist's comments: 43cm (17") tall Jed, very cool, calm
Chakra surfer bear, was inspired by a similarly mannered,
dedicated surfer, my husband, Jed, one of the most well
balanced, energetic people I know. This is the first time
I have used more than one gemstone as a bear's theme.
I have also never created a clothed bear. It was very
interesting to work with completely different man-made
material like neoprene, as part of the actual bear! You
will never see Jed just in the "fur" because he is very
modest! Jed's Sterling Silver Chakra pendant is set with
seven faceted gemstones depicting the colours of the
seven major energy centres of the body, believed to help
promote vitality and good health. This theme flows through
his design. His main body and half of each arm and leg
are made from black neoprene, simulating the effect
of a real wetsuit, with a polar bear logo depicted on his
left shoulder. Strong hairy arms, head and legs made
of thick, dense, pure white German mohair with black
neoprene paw pads, German glass handpainted eyes
match the seven sparkling colours in his pendant, perle
embroidered nose and mouth. Inside his body, he has
seven different gemstones, all matching his Chakra
colours, Jed comes with his own surfboard so he is all
ready to hit the surf! He is completely hand sewn and
is filled with steel shot, pellets and polyester to give
him real presence and a strong, loving hug!

19.
Reginald Rabbit (AKA "Topper")
Artist's comments: Reginald Rabbit or "Topper " (as his friends
call him) is an OOAK, specially jointed bunny who is the first
in his size and style to wear clothes. After I had finished him,
he reminded me that I had a wonderful drawing of a bunny who
was wearing a rather unique outfit. He said he thought it was high
time I actually made the costume and he couldn't think of a better
rabbit to wear it, than himself! Topper has five joints including
his double-jointed neck, which combined with his curved arms
and paws make him fabulously fun to pose! Made of realistic
imported German and Belgian plush, airbrushed in earth tones
for realistic coloring. Detailed scissor and needle sculpting on
face, paws and feet. Deep set, big brown eyes with slightly
droopy lids accented by eyeliner and airbrushed eye shadow,
covered leather nose, Belgian plush/flannel extra long airbrushed
lop ears, individually sculpted and airbrushed paw pads with painted
toes. Primarily wool felt costume reminiscent of an old fashioned
joker. Hand dyed vest, black purl cotton hand embroidered blanket
stitch edging, bow tie and hat band made from embroidered tapes.
He is somewhat a traveling fool with his walking stick, patched outfit
and carefree attitude, yet his double-breasted Regency inspired tails,
collar and good luck, small pocket "Butterfly Fob", speak of another
life entirely!

Edwin D. Brood, Esq.
Artist's comments: Edwin's surname alludes to his big brood
of babies as well as his brooding nature. He is impeccably
dressed in his pressed tails, vest and ascot and takes the
job of delivering eggs at Easter time quite seriously. Since
he is the Easter Rabbit of my earliest childhood memories
and my first "white rabbit" prototype, he is a unique historical
piece and the last of his line. 20" tall, OOAK standing rabbit,
Loc-line intra-structure, attached twist disc neck. Bendable
skeleton lets him hide eggs in the most awkward places. Made
from four different styles of natural white alpaca. Extra large
ears lined with creamy velour, airbrushed pink), ears wired
for expression. Slightly oversized head, which I attribute
to his fine opinion of himself. Facial contours created by
detailed pattern plus needle and scissor sculpting. Serious
expression and intensely masculine look are partly due
to his furrowed eyebrows. Blue glass eyes with expressive
gray eyelids with pink eye sockets. Large nose is covered
leather, dark horsehair whiskers. Air brushing adds depth
to his stately visage, intensifying his striking looks. Edwin's
curved arms and flat feet are needle sculpted and airbrushed
to define his individually painted toes. Edwin wears antique
rose, chenille coat with tails accommodate his own cottontail.
Coat has rose/gold silk brocade lapel, pocket flaps, cuffs,
and tail lining. Iridescent glass buttons close the coat and
silvery champagne brocade waistcoat with yellow edging,
pale blue silk brocade ascot, sage green handkerchief.
Vintage blue velvet and pink flowers above his tie, magenta/
white rhinestone stud with a dangling pearl drop tie tack, gold
fob watch for a thespian appearances like the White Rabbit.
