Landis
Artist's comments: This is the first of my lions to be made
in this smaller size. Landis wears his feelings on his sleeve
and is happy to share them with you. 14" tall from head to toe
with an exceptional, 24" long tail! Created from mohair,
extensively hand painted with shading for character, needle
sculpted velveteen muzzle, nose and paw pads. He has cotton
whiskers, glass eyes, wired arms. Puff at the end of his tail
is stuffed with jingle bells.

Psammead
Artist's comments: Psammead was one of a commission request
from a gentleman from London who asked if I could create a bear
for his girlfriend's birthday, fashioned after Psammead, the Sand
Fairy from the childrens' TV drama series from the 80's - Five
Children and It. Psammead grants wishes, but the wishes don't
turn out quite like the children expect!I based him on a bear design
but wired his legs and toes and fingers. I hand dyed the mohair and
made his extensively needlefelted and airbrushed, face more rounded
than a bear's. 17"tall, cashmere hands and feet, nut and bolt jointed
with wired limbs, individual fingers and toes. Hand painted glass
eyes, filled with polyester and steel shot. Stands unaided.

Sick Boy
They say that "A rose by any other name would smell as
sweet". But my question to you is, does this also apply
to bears? Usually bears have cute, exotic or human names -
everything from Ted to Fred, Cappucino to Caesar has been
used as a bear name by some bear artist. But, would you
still like a bear that didn't have an attractive name? This
bear is called Sick Boy, after the character from the book
and film Trainspotting. This is not a name that I personally
would have chosen, but sometimes you don't get any options...
sometimes a newly-brewed bear just looks at you and says
"This is my name, get used to it!" I feel that this bear has
definitely gone above and beyond the boundaries of "normal"
names for bears! Now, ask yourself...can you see past an
unattractive name and find the bear that "bears" it, might be
appealing? Can Sick Boy smell as sweet as Ted or Cappucino?
15cm/6" tall, hand-dyed Schulte mohair, olive green glass
eyes, leather eyelids, randomly embroidered nose, fully cotterpin
jointed, polyfil and steel shot stuffed.

Arid: The Dryer Fairy
This little fellow is made completely from dryer lint. Although he
is only 6 inches tall, he has the capability of carrying off stray
socks twice his size. His wings are, as you might expect, made
out of starched dryer sheets, sprayed with delicate glitter paint
for fabric and then embellished with a silver paint pen. Legend
has it that these little bear fairies live in dryers all over the world,
collecting stray socks and whatever else they can get their grubby
little paws on. Arid does look genuinely sorry though perched
precariously on top of a miniature box of Tide detergent.

YMIR
Artist's comments: YMIR is a "primal being" or ice giant,
26" tall, and looks quite relaxed about the whole idea.
I had no special plans for this bear or to make an ice giant.
I simply wanted to make maximum use of this gorgeous
hand-dyed mohair from Barbara-Ann Cunningham. I tweaked
an earlier pattern for the head and body and then designed
the arms and legs as I went along.......as usual, this created
an element of panic - "will I have enough mohair?"...which
means that I have to sew faster, until I find out! For his
inserts, I coloured some long-pile cashmere, using silk
paints. He features a double neck joint, wired arms and
fingers, black glass eyes and stitched nose - and just for
a change - I "lacquered" it with sparkly nail varnish! He
wears a neck-piece of "pearls", "diamonds" and rose quartz
beads, and sports an amethyst bead in his belly button.

Rilough
Artist's comments: Depending on how you look at the world,
he is a Faunish bear or a bearish Faun. He stands 8" tall
and is a happy mix of crochet and needle felting. From his
tiny furry tail to his little black horns, he is a creature
straight from imagination! His crochet half is acrylic and
has been brushed and trimmed for a soft fur effect. His top
half is needle felted from 100% wool and has also been
brushed and trimmed for a fur affect. Carefully shaded and
his cloven hooves and horns, polished for a deep black shine.
Very poseable with stainless steel joints in his hind quarters
and arms and head are wired for a seamless look.

Serendipity
Artist's comments: 3-1/4" tall fairy of needlework.
Perhaps you've noticed her presence, though you didn't
actually see anyone -- an unusually difficult row of crochet
or knitting stitches just happened to come out right, even
though you could have sworn you had miscounted. Or, the
nose on the latest bear came out just right; how did that
happen? Just a tiny sprinkling of her fairy dust, and the
frustration is forgotten, only the soothing satisfaction
remains. Crocheted from lace-weight mohair, soulful
brown glass eyes, embroidered and shaded features,
cotter-pin and disk-jointed head, arms and legs thread jointed.
She wears finery fit for a fairy, crocheted in vibrant rainbow
shades of softest hand-dyed cotton, enhanced with tiny glass
beads. Her pretty lhead is crowned with a hat fit for a princess,
made with rounds of colorful crochet, beads, and topped with
spectacular Czech glass button.

Little Pink
5.9" tall, unusually coloured bear with very non-traditional
look. As such, she feels herself to be a bit of an outcast and
doesn't quite fit in with most of the other bears. Her heroine
is the pop singer Pink, who not only has the same name but
is also a thoroughly modern girl!15cm standing, hand dyed
Schulte mohair, ultra suede inner ears, glass eyes, randomly
embroidered multicoloured nose, fully cotterpin jointed, polyfil
and steel shot stuffed.

Pavlova
Artist's comments: My inspiration for Pavlova sprang
from my love of the glamour of 1930's movie stars,
which were larger than life and lived to flaunt their
wonderful accessories like brilliant boas and lots
of jewels! Pavlova is 8" tall, created from two different
hand dyed shades of pink mohair, cashmere pink paw
pads and ears, black glass eyes, multi coloured perle
cotton stitched nose, organza ribbon and pink wired
and beaded necklace. Filled with polyester and steel
shot for added weigh that helps her stand unaided.

Greenpeace
A very calm character, he enjoys surfing, hanging out,
eating pizza and being nice to people. Greenpeace has
an extraordinarily large head, which required some cunning
to attach to his tiny body. He is styled somewhat like
a "standard" anime bear, but the "big head/small body"
concept has been pushed to the limit. The addition of
eyelids gives him a more focused and "human" gaze
than is generally found in anime bears. Greenpeace
also features a unique nose in my signature woven
pattern for that extra touch of individuality. 15cm/6"
tall, hand dyed Schulte mohair, upholstery velvet inner
ears, amber glass eyes, leather eyelids, fully cotterpin
jointed, stuffed with polyfil and steel shot.

Carl Max
A terribly cute rat.... for the real rat-lovers! About 18 cm
high (rat-tail not included, of course), made of Schülte mohair
with black patch on his head. Heavy body so he not only
looks terrific (his OWN words) but feels good to hold, too.
A perfect companion, likes to read (Orwell and Dostojevski
and are his favourites), loves traveling (how about New
Zealand?), sleeps all day if possible, eats everything in
sight (lasgna with spinach and bleu danish cheese are his
all-time-favourites!) and especially loves to be with you -
hanging over your shoulder, sitting on your lap, whatever!

premium quality glass eyes, long cotton whiskers, airbrush
enhanced to add character and bring out his many features,
