1.

Edric, the Magnificent

8" tall including his "hairdo", feathers galore from the artist's

wide ranging travels including a large stash of feather boas

from New Orleans and Key West! Edric is sort of a dandy,

preening his feathers in the glimmer of the running stream,

hoping to attract much needed attention.

2.

Mazumbo

7inch/18 cm tall, one of a kind artist beary creature, mainly

made from blue spotted animal print faux fur, with very long,

multi-coloured faux fur used for his tummy, ear backs and

under tail. Snout top is made from a piece of gold mohair.

Fully jointed, glass eyes, artist's trademark embroidered

nose, matching paw pads.

3.

kiXXi

Artist's comments: This was one I just had to try - the eye

patches were the only problem.  Inserting patches of black

Alpaca would have been well-nigh impossible at this scale

and fabric paints would not yield the sharp edges I needed,

on such dense, soft fur. This baby panda dreams of being

something different when he grows up - a rock star, maybe?

Made from black and white Alpaca, he measures 8" seated

and around 13" standing (not the easiest to measure!).

Special features include open mouth and long pink cashmere

tongue, dark grey mohair paw pads, double neck joint, wired

arms and fingers, black glass eyes, stitched and lacquered

nose.  His "eye make-up" is cut from faux suede, hematite

bead belly button.

Pyg Me, Pegasus Pygmy Goat

Artist's comments: My goal was to create an animal I always

thought was friendly and adorable, like the teddy bear, with

an added whimsy.  So, I created a Pegasus Pygmy Goat.  His

name is Pyg Me and he is exactly what I envisioned.  I have

a close friend, whose mother, raises pygmy goats so that is

where I went for inspiration! After visiting the baby goats,

I came home with pictures and used them to design my pattern.

I used sculpey for the clawed feet and made them with “knobs”

on the top so when they could be easily inserted in the ends

of the legs. They are tied in like a neck joint and also glued

so they will not come out.  I did the horns in the same way.

The REAL feather wings are attached by sewing them in place,

on the back, then covering them with an added strip of fur so

they appear to grow right out of the back.  Pyg Me was created

from dense gray faux fur with black undercoat.  His muzzle is

wool felt with stitched and needle felted detail. All four paws

and his horns, are baked, hand painted sculpey clay,  14” long

from nose to tail and 9” from paws to the top of his head.  He

has six hardboard disk and locknut joints including double

jointed neck, black German glass eyea, real feather wings

are non-removable, bell around his neck rests on a leather

cord, stuffed with polyfil and pellets in his tummy.

Tickled Pink
Artist's comments: Tickled pink is as far "out there" as

I have ever gone.  She is one of my new wired long limbed

bears. She stands 10.5" tall.  Arms, legs and wings are

wired.  Her hot color  comes from pink lemonade Koolaide.

Made from short medium dense mohair. needlefelted face,

clay nose. bead eyes.  Her friend is completely needlefelted.

with her wool dyed in the same pot as the fabric.  Accented

with rainbow ribbon trim, hand painted silk wings.

Zanzibar

Artist’s comments: 16" tall, created from golden yellow

and ivory German mohair, ultra suede paw pads, hazel

eyes on  white wool felt backing, multi coloured cotton

stitched nose, nut and bolt jointed, polyester filled, steel

shot added to help Zanzibar stand unaided.  Turquoise

and gold ruff complement the colors of his embroidered

nose, which served as my inspiration for this piece.

The beautiful colors I chose for the nose, spurred

thoughts of far-away, exotic places.

7.

Bugwit

Wistful little 9" tall, bug-eyed, feeler-fitted friend.  Made

of felted wool fabric, incorporated clothing and needlefelted

embellishments, including his very own needlefelted, beaded

daisy.  Check out the shiny metallic baby-bug wings resting

on his back.

8.

Red Baron

Artist's comments: In designing this bear, I set myself

three challenges:  First - make something much smaller

than ever before.  Second - see just how far I could go

with the "big head/small body" concept. Third - ensure

this tiny bear would have a BIG physical presence.

The result is my Red Baron.  As it turned out, he had

to be entirely thread-jointed, which was also a challenge

for me as I have never done it before. 3.8"/9.5cm tall,

Schulte mohair hand-dyed in black cherry and then

overdyed in grey.  Glass eyes with ultra suede backing,

ultra suede inner ears, 5-way thread jointed, body filled

entirely with steel shot, limbs/head with polyfil, felt scarf

with heart pin, shaded with Copic markers for slightly

aged look and vintage character.

9.

Buggle

Artist's comments: Buggle is the prototype for my new

Faerieflies series.  Needle felted from Merino/silk blend

in beautiful light green.  His wings are handmade from

liquid Fimo and antennae painted to match his lovely

green fur.  Buggle sits 3" tall not including his antennae.

10.

Fritz, Funky Bear

Artist's comments: Funky Bears are very distant relative

of the fabulously ferocious grizzly bear.  However, Funky

Bears are not ferocious at all! They are full of fun and

frivolity and love nothing better than to play and dance

in the sunshine, showing off their beautiful colouring!

Funky Bears love to climb their favourite trees in the

garden.  They are great singers, too, and very big on

cuddles as well? Fritz is about 13" (33 cm) tall, made

from Schulte string mohair with mini-velvet for inset

muzzle, inner ears and pawpads - both materials hand

dyed in beautifully bright colours for cheerful, happy

funky look.  Hand painted eyes with lots of sparkle,

and sparkle added to handcrafted polymer clay nose.

Extensively needle sculpted and gently shaded face

for extra cheeky character, needle-sculpted paw pads,

polymer clay claws, wobble jointed neck, nut and bolt

jointed arms and legs, polyester filled, stainless steel

shot for weight and to add a squishy feel to cuddly,

chubby tummy.

11.

Fizgig

Needle felted from dark blue New Zealand Corriedale wool

with a fabric body.  Fabric covered button nose matches his

body, which is filled with glass beads,  Disc- jointed neck,

thread jointed limbs, big blue and brown real-look eyes,

"hair" is fluffed in a crazy, oddball way.  Felted yuk, yuk

teeth, happy smile and plaid neck tie.  Measures 4" tall.

Wazzle

Artist's comments: Wazzle is one of my Fun creations.

I'm not sure exactly what he is but he's certainly kinda

cute! He sits a whopping 2-1/2" to the tallest bobble

on his head.  Don't you just love the lime green coloured

Corriedale? The tangerine accents are the perfect accent!

13.

Spike
Artist's comments: Spike, standing 14" tall, is one of those

bears that literally jump off the piece of fabric.  While fabric

shopping one day, we came across this wonderful spiked

piece of synthetic...and with but a moment's hesitation...

the name SPIKE came to mind and shortly thereafter...

he was born! Most fabrics inspire us but this one BEGGED

to be created. As his fabric had SUCH character...we had

to give him extreme proportions from his HONKING big

feet with pulled toes, to his huge hands, all the way up to his

thread sculpteded face.  Drybrushed details accent his eyes.
Keeping in tradition with his extreme proportions, he needed

a nose with attitude, so we sculpted one from polymer clay

to match his personality.

14.

Goldfish Whisperer

Artist's comments: The Goldfish Whisperer is a whimsical

addition to the current trend of "whisperer occupations".

The 9" tall Goldfish is constructed from gorgeous painted

vintage leather with (8) individually and intricately sculpted,

fully possible fins, handmade marbleized polymer clay eyes.

Whisperer, his companion sits about 3" small, minus his

painted ultra suede fin hat, is hand sewn of ultra suede,

onyx eyes.  Jointed and completely armatured limbs help

him maintain his pose.  Dressed in a lovely goldfish leather

scale jacket (not removable).  Whisperer  has a bedroll and

handmade megaphone, since fish are usually underwater

and he is not sure where their ears are!

mohair, coton, nylon and acrylic in pale mauve, shades

of blue,  and green colors.  8-1/2" tall, fully jointed with

wool and steel shots for huggable weight.  Blue German

16.

Lashenestink Sptnk

11cm tall, one of a kind, made of schülte mohair, pre-washed

for softer, cuddlier feel.  Heavy tummy, blue nose.   She is

a very nice little girly sptnks - so soft and ever so innocent

looking - but watch out when she drives her tin can car! She

has crashed her vhcl heaps of times! If you look really good,

you can see the scratches! Lashenestink wears a real Scottish

Tartan tutu (with a bear on it!) and her toy-rabbit on her head

(don't ask why!).  But please take care! Like all the other sptnks,

she is always up to lots of mischief and she collects all sorts

of weird things!

Ossie, the Ostrich

This ostrich is a curious bird but certainly not a bird any

cat would want to challenge! Except for cats, he loves

all animals but especially bears - teddy bears! His unique

design includes brown/black/white feather plush, glass

eyes, hand stitched nostrils and mouth, needle felted

face with needle felting on neck, bottoms of wings, legs,

and feet.  Stuffed with polyfil/steel and BB's for weight.

Sunny Side Up

Artist's comments: This very unique, 10.25" tall teddy

bear's unusual fur reminds me of beautiful blue skies

kissed by the sun so I couldn't resist giving him the

name, Sunny Side Up! Definitely full of personality with

fur made from very luscious imported faux fur colored

midnight blue with golden tips. The fur is softer than silk! "

As usual, he is my center seam head design, armatured

arms for added flexibility and posing, 5-way disc jointed,

wobble jointed neck, handsculpted nose, imported hand

blown glass eyes with white accents, ultra suede paw

pads, weighted and gently stuffed with polyfil, shading

applied for depth and soul.

19.

Fafa Bird

Artist's comments: The Fafa Bird began as a self-imposed

challenge to try some new and unusual techniques.  We

have been making an assortment of birds for the last two

or three years and each one has been more and more involved.

This one is entirely a fantasy animal, sort of giraffe-necked

bird with some odd features.  The head is rayon fabric dyed

with food color to pale yellow shade, glass eyes.  Neck beak

and waddles made of various colored upholstery fabric with

three joints for maximum posing.  top-stitched waddles are

wired and  individually attached so they move.  Tail is made

up of five individually wired and attached “feathers”.  Top

of each feather is 2” pile imported synthetic fabric that looks

like bird feathers with a warm rust colored “down” undercoat.

Underside of feathers is upholstery fabric.  Each feather is

attached so it can move independently, of the others.  Top

of the wings is the same imported synthetic while underside

is one inch long mohair with light and dark colors.  Wings

attached with joints so they can be moved in many different

positions.  Feet made of two colors of Merino wool felt.  Feet

are wired so toes can be posed and arranged to help support

body.  Toes joints are decoratively wrapped with perle cotton.

Body sides and back are long imported synthetic fur.  Chest

and tummy gusset is ¾ inch tipped mohair fabric.  Fafa Bird

is 15" tall and 12" long from toes to the tip of the tail.

20.

Groovy Golly

Artist's comments: This large, 12" tall Golly's body is made

of polyester from my traditional flat style, two-piece center

seam Golly pattern.  His 3-dimensional head is attached

with plastic safety joint, so he can be positioned in different

angles.  Groovy's happy red smile is painted on with red

acrylic paint.  His suit is sewn out of felt and cotton, slacks

are blue and white checked fabric, yellow felt coat  opens

in front, and closes with a snap button.  Under his coat, is

a light blue vest and white shirt, bow tie is made from bright

pink satin.  His boots are made from dark blue felt, This really

Groovy Golly is also weearing a pair of super cool shades!

Sized for a doll's head, these round sun glasses are made

of metal, and have plastic lens.  Very psychedelic!

Bongo

Jingle jangle Bongo has striking red mohair with the look of dusky,

musky leather. 10" tall, 5-way jointed, artist's specially embroidered

signature style nose, hand shaded detailing.  Who could ask for more

panache in a companion?

22.

Ace: This Joker's Wild

Artist's comments: This Joker thinks he can pull the wool

over your eyes by tucking a spare Ace of Spades in his jolly

jester hat.  Ace is 16" tall, made of curly, coffee dyed matted

mohair.  His face is intricately needle felted from the finest

Alpaca roving and then hand painted.  Paw pads embellished

in a similar manner using hand dyed Alpaca. Each paw pad

sports a needle felted design representing the four card game

suits: Hearts, Clubs, Spades and Diamonds. Jolly Jester-style,

hat and collar, complete his mischievous expression and are

made from wool felt aged by boiling it for a softer look.  Don't

turn your back on this one as his cocky smile tells you he's

always up to something!
